ORIGINS
Durban Poison is a Sativa strain and a local variety from South Africa that after many genetic selections was introduced to the world of cannabis in the ’80s. This strain became an instant hit with Amsterdam home growers as it is one of the few Sativas that can thrive in the northern European climate.
GROWING
Durban Poison is a strain almost straight out of a fairytale, reaching great heights outdoors like the story of the magic beans. This cannabis strain has a perfect Sativa structure and a glossy blanket of milky white trichome which gives the flowers an incredibly sticky texture. Its leaves are forest green while the pistils are bright orange. Unlike other Sativas, Durban Poison, being locally rooted, has robust branches on the main stem, so you won’t need any support for its heavy tails. However, to get the best performance, it is worth growing cannabis in a place with favorable conditions.
If the indoor growing area has limited vertical space (like most) or growing a giant just isn’t in the plan, implementing a Screen of Green (ScrOG) setup helps. Regarding environmental requirements, keep the temperature around 21-26 ‘ C and the humidity level between 40% and 50%. With a proper growing method and supplies, up to 400 grams of sticky buds can be harvested after just 7 to 9 weeks of fruiting. If, on the contrary, the outdoor conditions are optimal (warm, sunny, and Mediterranean), feel free to grow outdoors. If all goes well, you can produce around 500 grams of beautiful, dense buds per plant. Be prepared for an early harvest in the Northern Hemisphere in late September.
